2005 Unwooded Chardonnay
VINTAGE DESCRIPTION
The 2005 vintage was characterised by a very long, dry ripening period with quite mild temperatures. The cool conditions particularly favoured white varieties, which resulted in outstanding aromas and flavours with high natural acids and almost perfect balance
WINEMAKING NOTES
The 2005 Chardonnay grapes were harvested at night in March. The grapes were delivered and crushed with minimal skin contact. After a cold setting period of 36 hours the clear juice was transferred into tanks where active yeast was added. The juice underwent cool fermentation before stabilising prior to bottling
WINE COLOUR
Pale straw green with an attractive green tinge
WINE BOUQUET
Medium intensity of tropical fruits including fresh pear and melon aromas
WINE PALATE
A stylish, fresh, delicate Chardonnay with a distinctive aromatic tropical nose. The palate shows wonderful peach and citrus flavours that are integrated with a long fine crisp finish
SUGGESTED FOOD MATCHING
Grilled perch or whiting with a fresh garden salad
CELLARING NOTES
A very attractive drinking now style, but will delight with fruit complexity in the future years. Drink now to 2010
